The mineral clinochlor (also called penninite) is a phyllosilicate with the chemical formula (Mg, Fe2 +) 5Al (Si3Al) O10 (OH) 8. It counts as the magnesium-containing end member of the chlorite group, part of the mica. The dark to olive green, blue-green. Clinochloor is derived from ancient Greek κλίνειν, klinein, "leaning against something (leaning)" and χλωρός, chlōros, "green". Like other chlorite minerals, clinochloride also occurs mainly in slightly metamorphic rocks. This is the only location where this type is found.
